Red Velvet cake

One of the many culinary treats of the American southland is Red Velvet cake. We saw it several places on our last driving trip down to Florida.

This particular slice was from a small restaurant, sort of a diner, on the east end of a small town. At the west end, there were many chain drive-in (McDonald's, Wendy's, etc.etc). Probably they couldn't survive the competition there. But at the east end, it was the major choice.

I felt it my duty to give them special financial support by having a slice for dessert! ;)

And, I left a nice tip for the waitress.
