My Hero(ine)
She is Prof. Samantha Power of Harvard.
Power is the (former) foreign policy advisor to Barack Obama who, in an unguarded moment a couple weeks ago, observed that "Hillary Clinton would do anything to win" the state of Ohio and the Democratic nomination, throwing in the term "monster" toward the beginning of that sentence. This off-the-record observation uttered in frustration was taped by a journalist during an interview on a another subject entirely. And it was not held back, as requested, but rather became a front-page story that then was published and commented on all over the planet!
Because of the controversy Power resigned from the campaign.
It wasn't the "do anything to win" comment that caused trouble. No one seems to disagreed with that, and it is being repeated often now. Hillary seemingly will do anything to win. It was the "monster" part.
Hillary Clinton simply did not like someone calling her a "monster." She can stand up to the terrorists (she says). She can stand up to John McCain and to the Republican's hate machine (she says). But she can't really stand up to being termed a "monster" by a younger, rather more attractive and apparently very well-meaning as well as extremely intelligent woman who has pursued a successful career addressing important public policy issues (like genocide) all on her own "power," without the benefit of being married to an ex-president.
I would have thought perhaps real "feminists" would have rallied around Power. But apparently not.
Comments
Unfortunately, in an election year, nothing is "off the record" Her intent was obvious, but the media needed some "sparks" and ignored the policy on "off the record comments" (spoken OR implied). Our Ms. Bill is so paranoid that she blew Powers away without even a statement in defense of her "friend".
I guess Powers was correct, Ms. Bill WILL do anything.
Well, i is certainly getting ugly. Unfortunately I think we are coming intoan all out brawl, an I am hoping Hill-Bill does not come up victorious, ecause theres no way I'd vote for McCain......
and now I am going to plus my latest efforts to stop genocide....(loosely rlated yes...) here http://katiebell.vox.com/library/post/oh-goodness-i-am-running.html
Excellent people like her are terribly to find, so I'm sure she's still working hard.
