Food at Stan's

Stan's restaurant, just off of I-65 in Columbia, Tennessee, seems to me the real deal. It has been there since 1947, and many have happy memories of it.

One of the things that is interesting to me is that there is a chain Cracker Barrel restaurant almost right across the street! Why, I wonder, would anyone go to the "imitation" when the genuine article is so handily available?

There also are several motels at that exit. We stayed at the Hampton Inn, and were very pleased. If you are traveling through, I would certainly recommend exit 46 (going west) as a fine place to spend the night.

Stan's has many southern-style choices, but on this last visit, I had a vegetable plate. And enjoyed it!

Looks pretty tasty!!!

How lovely to know there is a real version of that style of restaurant out there, and it's not all just some marketing invention! I love the idea of home cooking in a casual country environment, but I've eaten at Cracker Barrel a small number of times and frankly, my meals were *disgustingly* disappointing. I'd love to eat at Stan's some day.

We love to go to places like this. Sometimes you end up with a lot of grease, but other times you really do luck out. It's good to see that they are still in business with the CB across the street. A CB just opened here and the parking lot has been filled SOLID for three months. SOLID. I've never seen anything like it. It's got to help the local restaurants because when it has a line over twenty minutes, people are bound to go to the other nearby places.
